WHAT IS BREAST CANCER?
Breast cancer begins when cells in the breast grow uncontrollably. These cells can form a lump or tumor, which can be seen on an X-ray or felt as a lump. It can start in different parts of the breast.
WHERE DOES IT START?
It usually begins in the milk ducts (DCIS) or milk lobules (invasive).
HOW BREAST CANCER DEVELOPS
1. NORMAL CELLS
Healthy cells in the milk ducts or lobules grow and divide in an orderly way.
2. ABNORMAL CELLS
Some cells begin to grow uncontrollably and form abnormal cells.
3. CANCER CELLS
These abnormal cells can form a tumor and may spread to other parts of the body.
